Terms of Service

Last updated September 29, 2026

Kampos is a study tool. It turns lectures into text and generates notes from them. You're responsible for having permission to capture a lecture and for checking what the AI produces before you rely on it.

Your account

You need an account to use Kampos, and the information you give us should be accurate. You're responsible for what happens under your login, so keep your password to yourself.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live — generally 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.

What you record

You are responsible for having permission to record. That means following the law where you are and the policy of the institution you're recording in. Some places require every person in a conversation to consent; many schools require an instructor's permission or an accommodation. Treat live transcription as recording for this purpose: Kampos doesn't keep the audio, but it still captures what people say.

Don't upload material you don't have the right to use, and don't use Kampos to capture private conversations, medical or legal appointments, or anything where people have not agreed to be recorded.

What the AI produces

Transcripts, summaries, key topics, and flashcards are generated automatically and will sometimes be wrong. Live transcription comes from your browser's speech recognition and can mishear technical terms; you can correct it as it appears. Names, numbers, formulas, and dates are the most likely things to be mangled. Kampos is a study aid, not a substitute for attending class or reading the source material. Check anything you're going to be graded on.

Don't use Kampos to complete work in a way your school prohibits. Academic integrity policies are between you and your institution.

Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of your transcripts, notes, uploads and everything generated from them. You give Kampos permission to store and process that content only so far as it takes to run the service for you — cleaning up the text, summarizing it, building study material from it, and showing it back to you.

Study coins, chests and Kam

Kampos has a game layer: study coins, chests, Kam and the looks you can collect for Kam, quests and the Abyss (the review dive). You earn coins by studying; they can't be bought with money, and Premium never buys coins directly. Coins, chests and items have no cash value. They aren't your property, can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and aren't a measure of your grades. A chest's contents are random, and its odds are shown in the app before you open it. We may adjust the game (prices, rewards, odds and items) and may remove coins, chests or items gained through bugs, automation or abuse. If Kampos ends, the game ends with it, with nothing owed.

Friends

You can add friends by friend code, exact username or an invite link. Friends see your display name, username, Kam, your study streak, the looks you've collected, milestones, and the study sets you choose to share with them. They never see your notes, transcripts, uploaded materials, course or topic names, lecture titles or grades. The weekly friends leaderboard is optional. Be decent: no harassment, impersonation or offensive names. You can remove, block or report anyone, and we may remove names or suspend accounts that break these rules. Only share a study set you have the right to share. Sets built from uploaded materials can't be shared.

Acceptable use

Don't try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, don't use it to store unlawful material, and don't resell access to it. Don't use bots, scripts or extra accounts to earn coins or rewards.

Copyright complaints

What you put in Kampos stays private to your account unless you share a study set with a friend, and nothing is ever published publicly. If you believe material stored in Kampos infringes your copyright, email help@usekampos.com with a description of the work, where it appears, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized. We'll look into it promptly and remove or disable access to material that infringes.

Subscriptions, billing and refunds

Some features require Kampos Premium. Prices and what's included are shown before you pay, and payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars, plus any tax that applies where you live.

Monthly plan: it renews automatically. The monthly plan is a subscription that renews every month, charging the card you paid with the monthly price shown at checkout until you cancel. If you used a first-month discount, later months are charged at the full price. We'll email you at least once a year to remind you it's active.

Yearly plan: it renews automatically too. The yearly plan is a subscription that renews every year, charging the card you paid with the yearly price shown at checkout until you cancel. We'll email you about 30 days before each renewal with the date and the amount, so you can cancel first if you'd like.

Cancelling. You can cancel the monthly or yearly plan online, any time, in Settings → Billing. It takes one click; you don't need to call or email anyone. Cancelling stops all future charges, Premium stays on until the end of the month or year you've already paid for, and we email you a confirmation.

No refunds. All payments are final. We don't refund subscriptions, including for part of a month or year, except where the law requires it or we've made a billing mistake. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.

Price changes. If a subscription price changes, we'll email you between 7 and 30 days before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first if you'd like. A change never applies to a month or year you've already paid for.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we'll ask you to update your card. Premium stays on for a few days while that happens, then the account moves to the Free plan until payment goes through. Your content is never deleted because a payment failed.

If we change what a plan includes in a way that takes something away, we'll tell you before it takes effect.

Availability and liability

Kampos is provided as-is. We don't guarantee it will be available without interruption, that live transcription will capture a lecture cleanly — it depends on your browser's speech recognition, and works best in Chrome or Edge on a computer — or that generated notes will be accurate. Back up anything you can't afford to lose.

To the extent the law allows, Kampos is not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including academic outcomes — arising from your use of the service.

Ending your account

You can stop using Kampos whenever you like, and delete your account yourself from Settings → Delete account. Deleting cancels any subscription immediately and erases your content; time already paid for isn't refunded. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will explain why where we can.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll ask you to review and accept the new version in the app before you continue. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account instead.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States.
